Rainy Day Activity: Make a Puppet!

By Paula Solis Krock

Children are so cool. Give them some fun props and they will tell creative, interesting stories, develop characters and make you belly laugh to no end.

Puppets are a great way to unleash this creativity in your little storyteller.

Put the following items on the table and see what delightful kinds of puppets your kids come up with

What you will need:

  • Clean Socks (for sock puppets)
  • Popsicle sticks (if you choose to make stick puppets: one stick puppets, or two stick puppets at either end for movement)
  • Toilet Paper or Paper towel rolls (if you choose to make these kinds)
  • Small brown bags (if these are the kind of puppets you choose)
  • Doll clothes
  • Legs cut from nylon stockings
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Feathers
  • Felt
  • Small hats
  • Fabric pieces
  • Buttons (be aware of the choking hazard)
  • Glue
