Recipes for Fun

These art experiences are great activities for bored kids. Who can resist edible fingerpaint on a slow winter afternoon? These recipes are guaranteed to keep boredom at bay, and best of all–surprisingly easy to clean up after!

Bubble Prints

Make note cards and stationary with bubble prints! Plan ahead–these make nice cards for Valentine’s Day!

What you will need:

1/2 cup bubble solution

small plastic bowl

2 tablespoons tempera paint

white typing paper cut in halves or fourths

straw

Pour the bubble solution into the bowl. Whisk in the tempera paint. Use the straw to blow into the bubble solution and make a heap of bubbles. Remove the straw and gently lay a piece of paper over the bubbles. The paper will absorb the paint and make a print of your bubbles! Or blow the bubbles crazy and spilling out of the bowl and onto paper next to the bowl. When the bubbles pop, they will leave their print.

Finger Lickin’ Fingerpaint

What you will need:

1 can whipping cream

food coloring

fingerpaint paper or butcher paper

Tape the fingerpaint paper or the butcher paper glossy side up onto a table. Shake up the can of whipping cream and hand it over to your child. Have her spray the paper randomly with the cream and add a few drops of food coloring. Use fingers, and hands to create the tastiest design ever!
